How do you know if you have bipolar disorder?

My father was bipolar schizophrenic, my great grandma was manic depressive and my grandma and Mom are functional depressives. I do have highs where just a morning walk during a beautiful morning will make me feel like I can conquer anything but then I can have very low lows where I don’t want to do anything and the only thing keeping me on this Earth are my kids and sat thinking of the different ways I could kill myself. Also when I get my monthly I get super low the first day but then am walking on sunshine the other days. Ever just feel “off” no matter how much you try, no matter the smile you slap on your face or the confidence you exude to everyone else but internally you just want to curl up in a ball and just cry? I’m just off today when just earlier I felt like I could get so much accomplished, my mind was racing thinking about everything I could do today but then just blah.
