Okay so you ladies seem to have natural tricks for everything! I had a friend over and his dog peed THREE times on my carpet. Well I rented one of those carpet cleaners and I cleaned my carpet 4 times. I thought it was clean but now that my carpet is dry I STILL smell dog pee! Any tips to get rid of the smell?

Yup.  Vinegar.

True, you may have to replace things. Before you go to the expense, soak the area with vinegar. If it's a choice between replacing it or trying a good soak down, I'd go for soaking first.

I didn't read all the replies, but we have the same issue.  I bought a huge bag of baking soda from the Sam's club and use it on the floors and my kids mattresses as well.  Works great.  I even put it under the carpet since ours isn't attached.  After I left it there for a while I vaccuumed it up.  It works great.  It also keeps fleas away, that's why I originally got it.
