World's Easiest AND Healthiest Ice Cream - Vegan too!

This was featured on The Stir but I know not everyone reads it.  I'm planning on trying this as my bananas are getting to just about the right point.

World’s Easiest Ice Cream Recipe

Ice cream is pretty simple to make, but can be tedious and time-consuming. This one is too simple. You won’t believe it’s as good as I’m telling you.

I didn’t believe it either. I read about it over a month before I finally made it … what a waste of time. If you like ice cream, you have to try this. It’s amazing.

Ingredients

bananas
– optional –
milk

Directions

Did you read those ingredients or just skip over? Go look again, make sure you get what I’m saying. Just bananas. And maybe a little milk just to make it go faster.

The earliest reference I can find to this recipe is from The Kitchn, where it was published last summer.

Peel some over-ripe bananas. The ones that usually end up in banana breadduring the cooler months.

Chop into pieces that will fit in your food processor or blender.

Pop them in the freezer for at least an hour. Put the frozen pieces in your food processor.

(That’s the Ninja, of course.)

Pulse a few times to break up the big pieces. Hold on tight, it will rock a bit when the blades catch on the big chunks.

At first it will look chunky and granular. If you’re super-impatient, add a splash of milk to hurry the process along.

But you don’t really need it. Just keep scraping down the sides and processing and it will suddenty get all creamy and smooth.

It’s got the consistency of soft-serve custard.

When bananas are past their prime and almost too mushy to work with, they have much less banana flavor.

My wife was even more skeptical than I was that this would work. I let her taste mine and didn’t get my bowl back. Good thing I still had more in the Ninja. And some Ghirardelli semi-sweet chocolate chips.

And that’s it.

I've made this one before, the family loves it and my daughter thinks she's getting something special. I like a little maple syrup and chopped walnuts on mine, but plain is good, too.

I'm glad to hear another good review for it!  I'm excited to try it.

I make this often. I got it from a Dr. Weil mailing. You can add another frozen fruit to it if you want....you can do a "banana split" flavor by adding a strawberry or two and the chocolate chips. It really is good.

Great, now I have to go find some over ripe bananas to buy. ;-)

Man, bananas never make it to that over ripe stage in this house. I think I'm just going to have to hide some until they're ready and make this one day. I LOVE bananas and this looks so very yummy. :)

ziff, stick 'em in a paper bag with a couple apples.  They'll be overripe WAY quick.

Haha, that's what I thought when I read it!

"Something so easy that I doubt I could ruin it if I tried!  Whoo hoo!"
