Hi all! I actually joined this group a lil while back, but I have a 3 1/2 month old daughter, so I have been busy doing the newborn thing, and haven't had time to introduce myself.
My name is Amy. I am almost 29 years old. My birthday is on Monday. I have two children. My DS is 6 years old and has Epielepsy and a Developmental Delay. My DD, as I said, is 3 1/2 mo old. She's a sweetheart.
I grew up in a house with NO junk food. No chips, no soda, no candy. Except on special occasions...like Halloween. The good thing about that is that I am used to it, and don't keep much junk food in my own home.
My most recent journey is giving up cow's milk. And let me tell you, I am a milk drinker. I grew up drinking milk. But I've been doing some reading lately, and I am finding out that milk is not the perfect food that society has made it out to be. So far, I've tried Coconut milk and Almond milk. Both are pretty good, and seem like a good alternative.
I have also been finding out some good vitamin supplements for my DS to help with behaviors resembling ADHD.
Anywho, I hope to learn alot more, and get to know you ladies, as a member of this group.
Welcome I am new also. I drink goats milk. It is so much better for you than cow. I love the taste better than soy or rice milk. You can get goat milk at walmart. It is expensive but tastes most like real milk. It is also so good for you. I am just now switching my son to goat milk from formula. I am lucky I live not to far from a friend who has a goat to get milk from. Check your internet and see if anyone has a goat farm near you. It depends on what they feed the goat as to what the milk will taste like. Walmarts goat milk is good because it does not have a raw taste. Good luck with your new baby.
Fish oil is so good for the brain. It helps even with some panic disorders. You can gey some liquid smoothy flavor at your local health food store. This might help your son.

Right now, I am just giving him Lil' Critter Omega-3 Gummy Fish. I have read how great fish oil is (omega 3 & omega 6) is for lil ones with disabilities. Thanks. :)
Hi there! I saw your post and thought I would tell you about a site I have found to be really helpful in my journey to a healthier family.
I found Kelly the Kitchen Kop on Facebook and have really enjoyed her site, she also writes a lot about milk and children with ADHD. The one particular diet I have heard is really great for helping to rid some side effects is called the GAPS Diet, I bought the book but haven't started reading it. Mostly starting to cut out al the preservative and processed foods.
I too am new to the group and am 29! =D Congrats on your new little girl! Have a great birthday on Monday!
CONGRATULATIONS! And, it is true that milk is not what it used to be. My friends are changing to almond milk too.
I don't usually recommend stuff, but, there is a yummy cherry chewable vitamin that kids love if you have a need for that sort of thing. My friend's 24 y/o ADHD DS still prefers this multi-vitamin to swallowing an adult vitamin!
