Severe Back Pain...Need Advice Please...

Posted by   + Show Post

Hello.  I have dealt with low back pain since I was 3 years old. I am now 27 years old.  I have been to several specialists over the years, had MRI's, CT's, Bone Scan's, etc.  I have been cleared of cancers including leukemia.  I have had physical therapy as a child, and two years ago.  I have also had some type of steroid injection when I was 12.  It temporarily stopped the pain but only for about six months. I remember many sleepless, painful nights crying with my Mom because of the pain.  The pain seems to be helped and somewhat relieved with a heating pad. Yet, the heat outside causes more pain.  When I was 21 years old, and pregnant with my son I was formally diagnosed with sacroillitis.  I was told that it would either fix the problem, or make it or worse by being pregnant. Well it did neither.  The pain is constant 24/7 but some days are worst than others. Such as the past two days I have been in a lot of pain.  I honestly am not a complainer. I am just desperate right now.  On sunday night, the pain was unbearable. So I took a pain pill that I had from a gallbladder surgery two years ago. Well two years ago I was fifty pounds heavier. Needless to stay, I am sure it was the wrong dosage for me on my weight now so my legs became numb, I was sweating, very hot even though the A/C was on 60, nauseated and very, very dizzy. Yes that was very dumb, and it is never happening again.  I have been told that when I lost weight the pain would lessen. Well I did lose about fifty lbs two years ago, and the pain became worse.  I have a lot of experience with this pain, but I could use ANY type of advice anyone needs.  I will not go through physical therapy or surgery.  I do have an appointment with orthopedic surgeon on June 6....he specializes in backs.  What I am in need for from you...is does anyone have any advice on pain management? I am desperate...the pain is becoming unbearable.  Please, please help!!!

Thank You:)

Hi, I'm sorry you're in such pain; I'm glad you have an appointment with a specialist. Good for you on your weight loss! IMHO, maybe try alternating heat/ice every 20 mins. Also, I'd try lying flat on your back. Stretch your toes front, then back. Then, lift one leg to your chest, then the other. Then put both flat, extend toes both ways again. Then lift both legs to your chest. Repeat separate legs, then both flat, do toes. Then, angle legs up, cross legs, the one over, lay towards floor, then reverse. Then butterfly legs...both feet touching, let knees fall outwards. Do all this for a minute or two, or twice, for a minute or two. End with legs flat, toes extended. Take a bath w/Epsom salt. This is just a simple back stretch. Whenever I "throw" my back out... it always helps. We used to do it as a warm up/down for exercise. It can't "pull" anything. Let us know how the Dr's goes & good luck :)

I can only tell you what works for my back pain..I alternate between two essential oil blends called PanAway and one called Deep Relief..it helps for my lower back pain..there are also different essential oils that people have had success with to control pain. Http://www.oil-testimonials.com/1354066 is a website that has testimonials of people who use different essential oils, you can just do a search of what you are looking for.
