Nerve Damage in my foot

I have been having pain in my right foot for a few weeks now, down near my toes. So finally yesterday I went to the doctor. He says that I have nerve damage probably caused by wearing high heels all the time. He also said that if it doesn't get better with rest and medication, I might need surgery to remove the nerve. Has anyone else ever experienced this? Do it heal or did you have to have surgery? It really hurts but I hate to have stop wearing my heels. I am only 5 foot 2 and I need them. Then again, I guess I'd rather be short than in pain.

I haven't had this problem, then again, I rarely wear heels.  I just read an article today in Redbook magazine about the problems heels can cause.  Yikes. I hope you get relief soon.

Is it on the bottom of your foot near your toes?  I had Morton's Neuroma which is nerve damage.  I did physical therapy for a long time because I refused to do surgery.  It took about 6 months but it worked and I haven't had a problem in years.  I don't wear heels, only comfortable shoes.  You can find shoes that are comfortable, look good and will give you height.

Morton's Neuroma is what the doctor called it. It's the ball of my foot near my toes. He didn't mention physical therapy, but I have to go to a speciaist next week. I will ask about it. Thank you.

Sorry I can't help either. I live in tennis shoes though.

OW!!

You may be able to get away with buying better shoes... they're more expensive, but they last longer and are a lot more comfortable.

Sounds painful mama!  I'm sorry!  I'd switch to flats but that's just me:)

I'm 5'2" too. I can relate, though I don't wear heels anymore, really. If I do, they are medium. I'd definitely try the therapy first. Good luck.
