You never really lose a habit, you trade it in for another. Try either picking up a hobby that's simply to do (crocheting, stationary bike, repainting a room or furniture) that will keep you busy and distract you from whatever emotion or invest in some Ziploc bags and have different kinds of healthy snacks easily handy in the cabinets and fridge. If that doesn't work, research healthy recipes and maybe try something new for dinner.

i love having something yummy that takes time to eat. my fav is frozen strawberries. that or i will get up and pick a room to clean. makes me forget i wanted food or if i am still hungry i was probably truly hungry in the first place. i also know my mom always said if you think you are hungry drink a glass of water first. usually u were actually thirsty.

I have to do a combination of three things.

  • keep myself busy
  • keep junk that I love out of the house
  • and have something in the house that I consider a reasonable treat that I promise myself each night.

This for me. Also I chew gum constantly. Partly for anxiety partly to keep from snacking.

Learn a new habit. When you get emotional or bored, take a walk, do some squats, lunge around the house or do some push ups. Then after a few minutes ask yourself if you are really hungry.

Keep busy. Drink water instead of eating.  I craft, it helps

I get upset I eat until I feel ill.  It's bad, I gain weight which upsets me and I eat some more.

I'm the worst about eating when I'm tired so here lately I've been going to bed earlier which is really helping. You cain't eat if your asleep.
