Traveling Snacks! PIOG

In 3 weeks we are driving to Seattle for my 7 month olds heart surgery. It's a 600 mile journey for us and we need snack ideas!

Usually when we go on any trip, I bring carrots, bell peppers, bananas, and water. That's usually what my hubby likes. He said this time he wants something different.

I'm drawing some blanks!! I might get some granola bars.

Any ideas? What do you bring for snacking on?

I take almonds and dried apricots because they are supposed to be healthy for you. Well apricots are that are not dried anyway. LOL

I used to take those crackers with cheese or peanut butter in them.

Mmm.. those are nice healthy snacks.

What about bringing snap peas, apple slices, nuts and raisins?  Or more of a healthy trail mix blend?

Good luck on the surgery.  I hope your little one heals quickly.

*sending positive vibes for your little one's trip and surgery*

When we travel long distance i typically pack our small cooler.  I make sandwiches that day (or night before). . . . .

Almond butter and fruit spread (if your family eats those).

Sliced meat and cheese (if your not vegetarian)

Apples (which are in season)

Pears (also in season)

Kiwi (in season as well)

Sliced beets, can be raw or roasted or made into a salad (in season)

Celery, carrots, broccoli, cauliflower can be cut and you can make a dip too

Flour tortillas or corn tortillas

Hummus

Kombucha (we ALWAYS have that)

Dried fruits (whatever you like)

Nuts (whatever you like)

Dates

I like clementines for road snacks... so easy to peel and don't take up much space.

It's not an emergency surgery. It's been planned for months. We could fly but then we would rather have a car.
