question on substituting ingredients ~ made the muffins ~....

I'm making some muffins and the recipe calls for 3/4 cup sugar. I really don't want to use sugar if I don't have to. Is there any thing I can use to replace the sugar. I've read some where but I forgot. Was it apple sauce or is that for something else

I use 1\4 sugar of the raw and 1/4 apple sauce. They came out soo yummy. I really try to avoid adding sugar to my foods .Everyone loved them. Thanks for the replies ladies !

I think applesauce can be used in place of eggs, but I'm not sure on the sugar...I might be wrong!  I honestly don't know as I'm not a baker...sorry!  Good luck though!

You can use applesauce but I'm not sure it would be as sweet.

You can leave the sugar out of muffins. It makes very little difference to the texture, and only a little bit to the shelf-life.

Sometimes i add smashed fruit for muffins, like applesauce, banana, orange juice, etc.  Depending on what i have on hand or what's in season.

You could also use raw honey, pure maple syrup, coconut sugar or date sugar or molasses instead.

 applesauce can substitute for oil, I know that much.
