Global report: Obesity bigger health crisis than hunger
So basically, according to a new report, obesity is a bigger healthy crisis globally than hunger, and the leading cause of disabilities around the world.
It used to be that kids were dying from infectious disease. But now the biggest problem is that so many people are obese....up 82% globally in the last 20 years! (and it's not just us, the middle east has seen a 100% increase since 1990). However, they are blaming it on the "western" lifestyle.
The report goes on to say how obesity causes noncommunnicable diseases like diabetes, stroke and heart disease. Also back pain. And there is talk of how the focus should go from treating noncommunicable diseases to preventing them.
Does this surprise you?
