Do you use one? I remember my mom did but I don't have one. What are the benefits?

They add iron to your food. They are indestructable. They make good weapons. I love mine.

Most of our skillets are cast iron. They last much longer than regular pans (i have some that were my great-grandmother's), and i think they cook better than the regular pans. My doctor also said they add iron to the food cooked in them, which helps me since i'm anemic. Oh, and they're versatile...you can use them in the oven, on the grill, on the stove, etc.

Years ago I used one regularly, then for some reason after I had my children every time I used the pan I felt incredibly ill. We changed pans and I was okay, I'm guessing I developed an allergy to iron from the change in my body. Now many many years later i am finally able to use an iron pan occasionally.
