Healthy Moms Healthy Moms

I have been having major sleep issues - insomnia nearly every night. A friend of mine suggested I try melatonin. She has no experience with it, but her mom suggested it to her. Anyway, I tried one last night and I certainly slept no worse/less. I might even say I slept a bit better! Has anyone tried it? Opinions? Risks? Thanks!

Melatonin was my go to sleep aid, I know use lavender essential oil and it helps most nights

Just because something is natural doesn't mean it's risk free.

there are huge risks, you can easily become dependant on the stuff and not be able to fall asleep without it. I'd ditch it now.

that's not true. Melatonin they make is synthetic and not the same as what your body makes. WHen you introduce fake hormones into the body the body then stops creating it's own hormones. So you are running the huge risk of not making your own melatonin and becoming dependant on the synthetic version for sleep. Doesn't sound like a no risk drug to me.
