GAPS vs clean eating?

My son is autistic. no official diagnosis yet, but it's undeniable at this point. I hear many autistic parents talk about how awesome GAPS is for autistic children, but honestly...i'm skeptical. I'm a skeptic by nature, but this diet particularly has me scratching my head. the other problem is that I hate meat and do not see it as part of a healthy diet. we eat it right now, but plan to only eat it when we can get it organic when we move in june. thoughts? if my son isn't extremely autistic would he be better just clean eating with us?

My son is autistic too and we've not tried any dietary changes other than trying to avoid a lot of processed foods.  This would be a great question for you to ask over on the Autism: Support Across the Spectrum group too.

My son has ahdh, sensory issues and a developmental delay and sticking to a gluten free diet it what has helped him. I'm not familiar with gaps though.

I haven't tried any diet changes.

My son's therapist told me that she worked with a lot of different children. Some parents tried the diet, but the therapist didn't see much of a change.  Plus she felt that it was expensive for very little to no change at all.

It is totally up to you.

For my son it wouldn't work anyway. He eats a lot of starches and grains. Like pizza, toast, waffles, pancakes.
