Childproofing Checklist - Have you done all of this?
I found this useful childproofing checklist on KidsHealth.org and thought I would share it.
We have done many things on this list but certainly not everything. I think the next one for us to tackle is going to be toilet locks (which aren't actually on this list) because my son's new favorite activity is opening the toilet seat lid.
Is there anything on the childproofing list you still need to do?
For all 6 of my kids I have never safety looked anything, when my oldest son was 3 Iput the safety plugs in the plugs, just because I thought it may be a good idea, and my son got electrocuted from trying to prythe plugs out with a plastic pixie stix, and as I learnt the current jumps from the plastic unto my son went through his fingers and thought his back, and the Doctor on call was looking at his feet trying to find where it exited from, my 3 year old was in the ICU for 3 days.
I have some of those, but not all. I'm not going to lock the toilets. I'm always an ear shot away and my daughter thinks the toilet is EWWW P U ......she says...lol. Some of them I think are overkill or for parents who leave their children unattended. I have gates at the top and bottom of the steps. I have the doorknob covers for the basement steps and the guest rooms. I have cabinets locked in the kitchen and bathrooms and we removed the coffee table as soon as she started walking. She is always with me, so I don't worry.

I haven't even started child proofing yet. I should get on it though.
I had pretty muchly everything on there when my son was younger. He is almost 7 now. I can say from experience that when using baby gates to get the ones that have just the horizontal bars and not the ones that go both ways or soon they will be climbing right over them. Plus if you have top heavy furniture there are straps that you can get to bolt them to the wall so that they don't tip over.
Honestly I havent done most of the stuff on here. nor do I plan to. My kids have been taught since they could crawl. They only go into the bathroom to pee. THe cords on my blinds are tacked up out of reach. I have no stairs or balcony. meds and cleaners are locked away but always have been. i do use plug covers but thats it. i think a lot of the babyproofing is for those who choose to not watch their kids
