What kinds of things do you do to help your kids get exercise? I would love some fun ideas for getting kids into movement.
Dance night is one of our favorites. Push all the furniture back, put a play list together (my teen does this part) and turn off the lights except maybe a few candles or solar lights, and let loose.
my little beasts don't do anything special. they are children they play hard.
just run around the backyard, digging holes, riding bikes, swinging (my 3 yr. old niece can pump herself), climbing/sliding, kicking balls, golfing (my 2 yr old),
Wife to John, Mom to John, Garrett, CJ and Alex
"Your stupidity is my husbands job security."
"I have one designer thing in my house, and it's a dog."
We keep our son enrolled in a team sport or lessons almost year-round. That's very important in the winters here because it's a little harder for him to go out and play for extended periods of time.
On top of that, my son will do Wii Fit when the weather is bad out. If the weather is good out, he loves bike riding--but also enjoys kicking the soccer ball around, skateboarding, scootering, and just running around with a couple of neighborhood friends.
I've not actively thought about engaging them in things for the purpose of exercise. But my 6 yr old, 3 yr old and 15 month old do NOT stop moving all day. They are constantly running around playing. The 3 & 6 yr olds are always out back playing, digging in the dirt, running around, etc. My 13 yr old Play volleyball and lacrosse (fall & spring) and is always ut walking with her friends around the neighborhood and up to the store.
We go for walks, bike rides, play soccer in the yard, play tag.
My dd is also in 3 dance classes a week (ballet/tap, jazz, hip-hop) and 2 swim lessons a week in the summer.
