What kinds of things do you do to help your kids get exercise?  I would love some fun ideas for getting kids into movement.

Dance night is one of our favorites.  Push all the furniture back, put a play list together (my teen does this part) and turn off the lights except maybe a few candles or solar lights, and let loose.

bike, hike, swim, dance, bowl, walk, run, roller skate, these are just a few things we do all the time.

We dance around, do Yoga Kids and Little Yogi's stability ball work-outs. In the summer we also do a lot of swimming.

We really avoid using our car. We walk, bike or take public transit (which usually involves walking) just about everywhere. Walking is also great for having wonderful conversations with your kids.

My son has therapeutic horseback riding once a week, plus when he's up to it, he rides his bike, shoots hoops and helps to weed & mow. We also have a Wii w/a Wii Fit that we use for therapy, too.

We keep our son enrolled in a team sport or lessons almost year-round.  That's very important in the winters here because it's a little harder for him to go out and play for extended periods of time.

On top of that, my son will do Wii Fit when the weather is bad out.  If the weather is good out, he loves bike riding--but also enjoys kicking the soccer ball around, skateboarding, scootering, and just running around with a couple of neighborhood friends.

I've not actively thought about engaging them in things for the purpose of exercise. But my 6 yr old, 3 yr old and 15 month old do NOT stop moving all day. They are constantly running around playing. The 3 & 6 yr olds are always out back playing, digging in the dirt, running around, etc.  My 13 yr old Play volleyball  and lacrosse (fall & spring) and is always ut walking with her friends around the neighborhood and up to the store.

We go for walks, bike rides, play soccer in the yard, play tag.

My dd is also in 3 dance classes a week (ballet/tap, jazz, hip-hop) and 2 swim lessons a week in the summer.
