So 3 weeks ago we found that the lymph nodes behind dd's ears were swollen. Monday morning went straight to the doctor, had fluid in her right ear so she got antibiotics. Thursday she was still not better, the nodes in her neck were swelling and the ones under her arms too. Got to the doctor and ALL her lymph nodes were swollen and her spleen was swollen so they did a CBC and mono test. Thursday night she was in pain on her left side and it was swelling at her rib cage pretty bad. Spent all day Friday in the Children's ER. They took another CBC, an ultrasound and x-rays. Found her platelets were just a tad low and the ultrassound and x-ray found nothing. Come the next Monday we were back to the doctor for another CBC. After all the results came in, her platelets were back to normal but WBC were just a bit low and she is still swollen and sore. She goes back on the 1st for a recheck but at this point she isn't any better. Her mono test did come back negative but she has been infected with the Epstein-Barr Virus. My mother was talking with our neighbor the other day about her being sick and our neighbor told her thats exactly what her son was going through before he was DX with Hodgkins Lymphoma. Now Hodgkins normally affects people between 15-40 so we don't think that could be whats wrong with her. We've done everything we can think of on our end but she just isn't getting any better and I just don't know what to do. I have been searching the internet and keep coming up with CANCER... my little 8 year old sweet baby just can't have cancer. As a parent what would you do?
Thanks

I'm so sorry, I really hope the Doctors find out what's wrong soon. I think I would tell the doctor your concerns about cancer and see what they say about it. Keeping your sweet girl in my prayers. Keep us updated on how she is doing.
No they haven't tested her for anything except Mono (EBV) and done several CBC's. She is still a ball on energy and doesn't and hasn't felt bad except when you touch her. I still can't really hold her and when I do I have to be careful where I place my hands on her so that I don't hurt her. Most of the time she just sits in my lap and that's all. I'm just counting the days until we go back to the DR.
Thanks

I decided not to do the biopsy, something didnt feel right. So, I took him to another doctor, a doctor who had been in practice since before I was born, lol. He looked at the huge bump, felt it, and said my DS's lumph nodes were infected, and he had seen this many times. Strong antibiotics, and 5 days later and DS was fine. So, my suggestion would be get a second, third, even fourth opinion till you find someone who has dealt with this or has reasonable ideas on how to proceed. Good luck mama. I was in turmoil before I found the doc who knew what was going on, so I know how hard this must be for you.
