bedbugs...are you worried?

Are you worried about getting the bed bugs I keep reading about online?  Are you doing anything special for prevention or not?

I have heard about them but haven't actually read up on the current issues with them. I thought bed bugs were more in motels and stuff......are they finding their way into peoples homes? Yuck! Do you have an article to post? I'd like to read more, although those kinds of articles make me start itching lol lol........

 yes i am, we live right out of NYC and its too close to home. my husband wanted to buy a new couch last month in NYC and i said no way, not until this bed bug thing is over!

 they are everywhere now. they closed down the empire state building becuase of a bed bug outbreak

I bought a spray and every week when I wash sheets I spray the beds, so yeah I guess you could say I'm paranoid, lol.

my husband and I almost got them cause we were gonna stay at a hotel a couple years ago and one of the people staying there that was leaving warned us of the bed bugs in the hotel..she said she pulled the covers down and a bunch of bugs scattered...we didnt stay there we went about an hour drive to my parents house. When I got home I called the health department on the hotel and I believe they closed the place down til it got taken care of.

 yeah its pretty gross. manhattan is off limits to my family until we know this is over. i might not even go into queens even thou i need to.

I am worried for some reason. I keep checking my bed & my daughters bed pretty regularly. I do know one couple who had them. My SO & I were over at their house about a month ago. He didn't tell us until we were about to leave they had the bugs.

I read somewhere that people are even getting them from buying new clothes(Victoria Secret, etc).  People w/ bed bugs go out and try things on and transfer the bugs to clothes.

DH has been traveling a lot for work lately and it makes me nervous.  Plus our drying isn't running right so it's not getting hot enough I think to kill them if he brought them home.  I'm going to make him fix it before the next time he travels.
