I just had a disturbing conversation with my boss. I was telling him about my 3 year old seeing Santa this weekend and how excited she was, and how she told Santa she would be "berry brave" when it was her turn to sit on his lap (we are waiting till my husband gets home from training in a couple weeks). Then my boss told me this story:
He was talking to one of his neighbors this weekend who also has a 3 year old girl. A third neighbor of theirs has a 3 year old boy too, and they had a play date. Neighbor #3 is really religious. and told their son that there is no Santa because Santa isn't part of their beliefs. Neighbor #2 was worried their son would tell his daughter there wasn't a Santa during their play date. OK, whatever, so they don't believe in letting kids think there is a Santa. BUT THEN neighbor #2 told my boss that #3 is so into their beliefs, that they don't use car seats because they believe God will protect their children if he sees fit....WHAT?
I am all for religious freedom, but no car seats? Am I the only one that finds that highly disturbing? Does that make me a religious bigot?
