Strange pain in jaw in my 3 yr old

Yesterday was little sis' 1st bday. We got a cookie cake to celebrate and I cut everyone a piece. 2 bites in, big sis said "My jaw hurts". I looked and saw she bit into the side with the big icing blob (of course) and thought "Uh oh, we have our 1st cavity.". I was saddened because I was working so hard on keeping her teeth healthy and thought we were doing great with brushing and she even loves to floss. I thought a call to the dentist was in order but I was gonna wait it out and see what happened. Maybe it was sensitive teeth due to the pure sugar icing, but maybe it was more like an ear infection. She JUST finished taking her antibiotics for an ear infection about 2 weeks ago and she's felt great since.
Well a little time went by and dinner time came, I made Hamburger Helper and frozen peas. Should be nice and soft, right? Big sis started crying because it hurt so bad to chew on her left side, and she showed me exactly where it hurt and it was more in her jaw than her tooth/gumline. I got concerned... I looked in her mouth and everything looked normal, I felt her lymph nodes and it didn't feel out of the ordinary... no fever... so I'm a little baffled to what was happening last night. This morning she seems fine. She ate french toast (with sugar free syrup) and some grapes, and said no pain. Has this ever happened to your little ones?

never had that happen, maybe she just had some sort of unseen sore that went away?  I know I have had sores in my mouth that I couldnt see but man did they hurt!

That is strange that it was so painful but suddenly went away.  I hope it stays away!

Yeah I thought so too. Cutting molars... hmmm I don't know, she has all her teeth. Would her big girl molars be coming in already?? She'll be 4 in May.

I would think she has all of her teeth by now. Arent most molars in by around 2?

I would schedule an appt with a pediatric dentist. It may be nothing, it may be something like TMJ.

I thinking a cavity between the molars.  Some kids just prone to cavities.  My 5 yr old eats a good diet, has regular check ups, I brush his teeth myself twice a day, we floss once a day and we use MI paste.  He still gets cavities.  Our dentist said that some kids just have thin enamel and says we are doing everything right

That sounds painful!  I'm sorry she has been hurting.  I think I would take her in just to be safe.
