is it possible to be able to eat pb for a period in your life then all of sudden be allergic to it???
just finding out that my dd is allergic to peanut butter and all nuts. she has eaten it before and never had a reaction. about 3 years ago i notice she had a hive, honestly i thought it was because of being out in the sun too much. (moved from jersey to Florida). i must say I'm glad she never had a sever reaction.
her hives started to spread on her chest more. i took her to the ER. they said its pollen allergies. give her benadryl and it will go away. so i did. a couple days later she comes home from school in hives. it was raining that day, pollen cant be in the air. i assume because its raining, but not sure. well, i took her to the doctors and they said the same as the ER. yet she still has the hive. then i remembered with my first born, the doctor said, try a food at a time and see the reaction. so i did.
i wrote down what she ate and what time and date. i started to pack her lunch for school. that way i keep track of what she is eating. as i made her favorite pb&j. a few minute later she comes to me in hives but this time on her checks and neck and chest. all this time pb was not agreeing with her. till this day i feel like i failed as a parent, how can i not notice this sooner.
thanks too all of u for the advice. i did take my dd to get the allergy test done. am i glad its only pb. (not glad that she is allergic). and its gotten worse. so now its gonna take longer food shopping. (ingredient reading). I'm more then sure there is a better way. my dd is not happy about, it was her favorite.
