My 10 year old son see a GI specialist. He had issues with chronic constipation ... He has IBS. Uses Miralax powder every other day. High fiber diet. The GI DR. Had him do a cleansing process. He also takes a probiotic daily. He is doing well.

I think its good they are referring him out.  Many peds just poo-poo (no pun intended) on constipation and then you end up with real problems on your hands.  The GI dr will get him straightened out and keep him there.  :)  Good luck!

I'd recommend keeping a food journal until you see the GI!

Good luck!

My son sees a gi regularly. We're on the phone with them weekly and we just had another hospitalization 2 weeks ago for constipation. They will probably review his diet with you ans have you start with simple diet changes, then move on to things like a stool softener, and if needed taking a stimulant.
