I've taken melatonin myself and haven't had any problems with it, but I do sometimes have a harder time waking up depending on how long it's been since I took it. However, I'm pretty sensitive to sleep aids of any sort.
I have friends whose kids take it for similar issues and it's been a help. I think the make a liquid version that's easier for kids to take, but I don't know what the appropriate dosage is.
Good luck!!
I haven't tried it yet. I'm trying other stuff first. Then I will go to it.
My dad takes it. He is kinda an insomniac, and it has done wonders for him and it is suppose to be safe and non-addictive. He takes it a half hour before bed and says he can usually fall right asleep, and usually stay asleep. I have heard about kids taking it, I think it is worth asking your doctor about.
I use it myself. I have noticed that I have very funky dreams when I do take it. Other then that it just helps me to settle down to sleep.
I've never used it but my mom does every night. She has trouble staying asleep still though.
I have heard that it is safe for children. They often prescribe it for children who have ADHD and have a hard time falling asleep.
