Ever heard of Impetigo?

Posted by   + Show Post

I'v never heard of this before, but apparently my son has been exposed to it at school. I googled it and its a highly contagious bacterial skin infection. Basically they're body sores. o.O Anyone know anything about it?

1 mom liked this

I used to get it about once every year or two back when I worked with little kids.  I would rub my nose when it itched and would transfer it to the skin around my nostrils.  It hurt worse than it looked.  At first I woudl think it was just sore from blowing my nose but then it was get like a honey colored crust on top of the red.  That's when I knew it was time to call the dr and get a script for it.  I haven't had it in years since I got away from those walking petri dish children.  My kids have never had it.

yeah my son got it this year at school when a girl pinched his belly!  OMG  I hate having my kid in school.  it is a staph infection... topical bactroban and washing 2x a day with hexicleanze  worked...  it took like 10 days though

My 4yo has had it I think 6 Times, but all mild cases. We just Got a prescription cream, and one bottle lasts all 6 cases.

I had it as a kid, my mom says I caught from my neighbor. That is all I know though.

Actually has both bacterial and fungal components. My daughter got it once from a bad mosquito bite. Treated it with neosporin and Lotrimin mixed together . Handwashing frequently will help with prevention.

It's contagious like the same way pink eye is. Contact. So do lots of hand washing! It's red bumps that start to ooze. It's gross, but it clears up easily with meds.

I've had impetigo when I was 10. As fas a s I remember, it is not a severe condition and my mom just applied some compresses to the affected skin. However, I googled for some info about the impetigo and they say it is treated with antibiotics... Who knows, maybe it's better to consult a specialist.

P.S. Here you can read about impetigo symptoms and treatment.
