My son has never said that either. But before he can even think it, I consistently remind him--when he just did something bad, or even on a good behavior day-- "Remember I will always love you. No matter if you do or say something bad, I will always love you. OK?" And I make sure he responds OK. But I guess if he said that to me, I would tell him that hurt Mommy's feelings & that is just not true. Mommy always loves you.

I remember when my Mom would tell us that we couldn't go to the house parties our friends would invite us to in High School because they didn't know them or their parents. We'd whine about how unfair it was, she would respond its because I love you. To which we responded, "I wish you didn't love us so much." Ha ha ha! Child/parent perspective has always been so different!
