dare do your husband's job for a day?
Let's say they allow you to go in his place and work for one day, would you dare? If so, what do you think would come out of it?
would i yes!!! probably be a little more forgiving when he come home ill as a hornet...
i ran this question by him... he said "you would but i wouldn't let you.. i don't want you going through that or seeing any of that".
NOPE!!!! What would come out of it?? I would dead...or traumatized so much that I would need a therapist for years. lol Seriously, I am NOT made to be a cop. I think I would just cry the first time some gang member looked at me. lol We actually joke all the time about how we could NEVER do each others job -- me be a cop and him stay at home with the kids. Thankfully, we both understand that the other's job is really tough and try to be as understanding to each other's needs.

Have any of you been on a ride along? I go all the time! I don't think I could do his job, but I do love going and being a part of it! It's interesting and crazy to see what they do everyday. My husband works in a really bad area of San Diego so it's interesting to go.
i can't dh will not let me... they will not let me ride with him because we are family and everyone else in his department is guys and he said there is no way i'm riding with them. he did say if his old SGT. was still there he wouldn't mind.. but with her being gone then no way. he knows i wouldn't do a ride along with one of the guys anyways.
That sucks that you can't ride along with him because your family. I love going with my husband. I have went 5 times now. Last ride along was pretty interesting..... we got to go to a call with a dead guy and we also got to do a foot chase! My husband works where their are gangs and all that! It's almost as bad as parts of Los Angeles but I still think it's interesting!

Nope I wouldn't do it...After the stories he tells me and then watchin Hard Time on National Geographic...the past two weeks has been at the prison my dh works at. I would be scared to death. I don't know how are men can handle these kinds of situations and people. God bless all of them., and may he keep the safe ! I don't know how women can be correctional officers, too scarey !
I have been on several ride-alongs with my DH. It's given me a total admiration for the job he does every day. He treats these dirt-bags with respect until it's time to not do so any longer. If I tried to do his job, I'm farly certain that a lot of these folk would be shot trying to escape on the way to the jail...
I do highly recommend a ride along though. It's very safe and you get to know the people who are guarding your DH's back on a day to day basis.
yeah the town council views it as a distraction. his brother was home right before his wreck (actually he was suppose to be leaving the day of the wreck). and they wouldn't even let his brother ride with him told him the same thing about his brother as they did me. he could ride with another officer but not with him. i've seen dead bodies before so that's nothing major. and i know the smell of old blood thanks to his wreck and all of my brother's. thankfully those situations was a fight back the upchuck reflex and keep right one smiling and being very positive. dh did say he would like to take me to one domestic call and talk to some of the women because i have been there before and they maybe more willing to listen to me then to a cop.
