Need help Please!

I posted in a generic forum and I wasn't getting any help at all so I decided to come here.

SO is graduating from the police academy soon and I need ideas of gifts to get him that would be useful and appropriate as a police officer. It's really hard to get him anything because he has worked for a police department for five years as a jailer/PSO and he already has a few things.

What are some things that your SO/DH's need while on the job that would be nice to recieve as a graduation gift? Any ideas would be really appreciated.

Thank you!

Do you guys read the Bible?  I've gotten my DH a Police Officer's Bible before and got his named on the outside and then wrote a little message on the inside flap.  It's a small Bible, so he can keep it in his bag or his car easily.

My husband also has a favorite pair of handcuffs.  They're nothing special but he loves them and they are HIS.  It's funny how proective he is of them.

Another idea is some type of weapon -- a nice knife he can carry on duty with his name engrved, or even a duty-approved gun.  Although, that's something that the two of you would have to go together and get, unless you get him a gift certificate to the gun store or something.  Or you could even also him a nice flashlight.

Something that isn't as fun but really nice is a custom-made vest.  The vests that are issued on my DH's dept ...well....suck.  So we got him a custom-made one.  It was expensive (and I don't know how much you are wanting to spend) but it is VERY worth it.  But ...it is expensive.

I've also heard of some girls getting their guy a St Michaels Police necklace or something.  "St. Michael the Archangel is the general of God's army and the great protector from evil; there is no greater guard against the evil one. " HEre's a link to a CAtholic website that I found that at -- but you can just google St Michaels Police Necklace  too.  http://www.thecatholicgiftstore.com/medals-jewelry/necklaces/st-michael-police-badge-medal-large/prod_884.html

Good luck and Congrats!!

Thank you for the ideas! I've been wanting to find that St. Michaels Coin but I haven't found anywhere locally that sells them. I guess I will just have to go ahead and order one.

My husband hasn't taken off his medal since he got it. We put the kids initials on the back

I second the St. Michael medal. More practically, a good flashlight is great. Dh's department doesn't issue them, so it is a good idea to have his own, just in case. Streamlight and Surefire make quality flashlights.

The St Micheal's medallion is great idea. My family pitched in and got his "gear" for him.

Duty bag, ticket/form clipboard, flashlight, and other little necessities that they need for bag while on duty.

Congrats!! Good luck
