HUSBANDS SABOTAGING US..

I just read a post by a mom whose husband waved candy in her face, teasing her.. (Julie..)

I wanted to do this as a separate post b/c I think it's an important problem.  Why do men do this???  I think there are different reasons.

As one mom suggested, maybe they are insecure and are worried about the attention we'll get when we're thinner and sexy and confident.

BUT for my husband, I think it's different.  I KNOW KNOW he would love it if I lost weight -- I am 150 and want to be 130 (or 125.. I'll decide when I get there.)

And yet, when he knows I want to lose weight, what does he do???  "I'd like to cook for you this weekend.  What would you like?  BBQ ribs??"  Or "let's go out to dinner.."  (He never wants to go out to dinner unless he knows I am watching what I eat.)

Oh, and he knows I have cut out alcohol, so he brings home a box of wine and puts it under the butcher block table, in sight..

Why???  B/c he likes to see me be weak and succumb.  He is competitive and prides himself on his strong will power -- he is 6 ft, my weight (!!), is a marathon runner, etc..  He takes pleasure -- though he would NEVER admit it, and may not even be aware of it -- in my weakness and love of food.

So, what do I do??  This morning, I lugged the box of wine down to the basement..  Oh, and I might make my dear hubby an apple pie, just to show him how much I LOOOVE HIM!

Oh, I forgot to mention: my hubby loves apple pie, but I don't have a sweet tooth..  tee hee.

That is so funny that sounds like my hubby.when am trying to eat healthy he brings pizza home after work at 12 or 1am depends on the day, pizza is my weakness. then he tells me not to cook him anything healthy he loves the way i cook, or he will say let me cook and he uses butter not a little but a lot of butter. I make him a pumpkin pie or strawberries pie because i don't like pie that much.lol.

I started hardcore exercising last month.. and all my DH wanted was ice cream, and to eat out.. you have a good point.

My DH is ten pounds lighter than me and two inches taller.. :(

He brags about his three miles three times a week... (he's in the AF, they pay you to exercise! ><)

My hubby is pretty good but when I get weak and want something sweet he's in the car and at the store before I even finish the sentence! If I'm home alone (while he's deployed or TDY) I think about junk but don't go get it because it's too much work to load the kids to get to the store just for a yummy snack. He does drink diet Dr. Pepper (luckly I don't like it) and loves the fast food but I've found healthy things I can order at these places (like a fruit salad, or grilled chicken wrap w/out dressing)  so it doesn't bother me all that much.

What does drive me crazy is he says he wants to workout with me but when it's time to go to the gym he ellects to stay home with the kids instead. The gym has a kids room so they could come too and like going but he just doesn't.

Men suck it's so much easier for them to lose weight!!!  And i guess they just don't understand what being overweight does to us b/c my husband is the same way. He can lose like 7lbs in a week if he wanted to...but if I did the same exact thing he did to lose weight I would prob. lose like 3lbs lol. It's hard for me since I'm home all day long doing nothing but cleaning so when I'm bored I want a snack. Im REALLY trying not to do that anymore tho!

I LOVE MY HUBBY, HE WORKS VERY HARD TO MAKE SURE ME AND OUR KIDS ARE TAKEN CARE OF. MY LITTLE PRINCESS HAS A HEART PROBLEM CALLED SVT AND SHE IS OUR LITTLE ANGEL BECAUSE WE ALMOST LOST HER WHEN SHE WAS 2 WEEKS OLD DUE TO HER HEART PROBLEM. JULIUS IS THE MOST ACTIVE 3 YEAR OLD EVER!! HE DOES THE CUTEST THINGS AND HE TELLS ME ABOUT 100 TIMES A DAY THAT HE LOVES ME AND THAT ALWAYS MAKES ME SMILE!!

I think so many women have this problem. I really feel men are comforted and secured by the weight we carry. As soon as we start losing it here comes the insecurity. At the begining of my weight loss journey my husband all of a sudden was so sweet and offered me a bite of every piece of junk food he ate. It was so irritating!!!! I used to think hes just trying to keep me fat. (which he was). But once he saw I could not be shaken, he let up. Now he finally gets it and is really happy for me that I'm accomplishing my goal. He's my personal cheerleader!!! I finally got under 200lbs and when I told him, he gave me a high five! I thought that was so sweet. What a turn around.

My biggest problem is that my husband REFUSES to exercise.  He's pretty decent about the food stuff (though he needs to lose around 70 pounds himself) but it's impossible to get him to exercise.  I want to play tennis with him or go swimming with him but he just doesn't want to.  There is no exercise that he enjoys so I can't even suck it up and do what he likes!  Ugh, it's just really frustrating.

I started at 289 pounds on August 6, 2009.  I hope to get down to 230 pounds by January and then will start TTC again.  My ultimate goal weight is 160 pounds.  I take doctor prescribed medication, follow a nutrition plan and I think really seriously about exercising :)

Wow, look at you moms.. I noticed a few of you have the weight loss tickers, and yeah, maybe I have less to lose, but I've also NEVER lost as much as you have!  You go, girls!  I really think that in the end, our husbands are going to win out, b/c if WE feel sexy, they get the benefit of that, right??

Hubby is insecure. My hubby says he doesnt care abot his weight. When we go out he always says...Lets please go to Golden Corral!!! He knows I dont care for buffets!! but, I managed to be strong for myself. i think that some men feel scared when the wife starts losing weight and looking good...they fear some other man might be looking at us!!! hehehehehehehe.  Stay strong for yourself. WE ARE NOT WEAKLINGS!!

My DH is 6 ft 5 in tall and weighs about 165 pounds. I haven't changed what I eat as much as how much I eat and when. We don't have a problem in regards to what we eat...he gets the part of my old portions that I no longer eat. I've lost 22.2 pounds in 9 weeks and it's been a big help to have my husband cheering me on. He always asks if I can eat something before he cooks it or suggests we go out to eat. He will usually let me know when he's planning something so I can adjust my point intake to fit something in without going over.

I believe that which does not kill us makes us stronger.
