I have started my workout on Monday since my husband is deployed for a year and I am trying to lose 30 lbs in 6 months. I have made it through 2 hour workouts for the past 4 days and feel really good. I am eating the 5 small healthy meals like I should and have lost 3 lbs so far. Does anyone have any tips on what machines I should be doing and for how long for weight lose. I have been doing 35 minutes on the eliptical and 35 minutes on either stairs or just the treadmill and then 5o minutes of weight training. Looking for any advice on what I should be doing or not doing. Thank you,
I would do only 45 - 50 mins of cardio. To long of exercise can raise your cortisol levelsand hold on to fat. This is what I did. I did about 35 minutes of fast walking on the treddy and then weight trained 5 days a wee. make sure you get 2 rest days. Rest is when you make changes.
The stairclimber is awesome for shaping up the legs and burning cals. Glad you are eeating small meals and lifting! I have a food and workout journsl here you can look at for exercise ideas. I lost 50lbs by doing this.
Is that what you're doing everyday? That's quite a bit. You might end up doing more harm than good. Also, with such an intense work out regimen you'll really need to make sure that you're keeping up with your calories. Having a caloric deficit with such a demanding workout regimen can be very detrimental. Your body will become deprived and start storing EVERYTHING as fat. I'm a Beachbody coach and I'd like to invite you to join my free club. I can help you get on a good meal plan and workout program to make sure that you are able to maximize your results. Nothing will cost any money unless you decide to purchase one of our workout programs and/or nutritionals.

I totally understand where you are coming from! My hubby was deployed twice during the first two years of our marriage and both times I wanted to get myself in the best shape possible befor he came home. I did pretty well with it.
I do have to agree with gymgirl though. There is such a thing as too much exercise and you do need rest days. But it sounds like you are doing great with the 5 small healthy meals a day. I'm trying desperately to get back the discipline and desire to eat right and workout like I did when he was deployed. I just had a baby in June and I look at those pictures from when he was deployed and can hardly believe that I'm that same person.
My hubby got me a membership to the gym at his work and they have all kinds of machines, free weights, and nautlis, AND they offer many different kinds of classes from yoga, to zumba and more. So, hopefully I'll get involved in that.
The best way I found to lose weight is to eat like the 5-6 small meals a day. Lift, and about 20-30 mins of cardio a day at 3-5 times a week. When it comes to lifting I prefer free weights, but I know a lot of people who prefer nautalis... and everyone has their reasons, but the long and short of it is, do whatever it is that you will want to keep doing over the next six months.
Keep in mind when you want to lose those 30 pounds over the next 6 months that it is healthy to loose 2-3 pounds a week, any more than that and your body will start to panic. Losing only 2-3 pounds a week gives your hypothalamus time to adapt to your new weight, if you loose too much too fast it sets off an alarm that tells your body that it's not getting enough nutrients and then starts storing it as fat.
Right now I weight 179 pounds because I've basically been doing nothing and eating whatever I've wanted since I was pregnant. When my husband was deployed I got down to 117 pounds with 14% body fat. My goal is to get down to about 125 lbs.
Thanks for all the great advice my husband also said the same thing that I have to have rest days and not do the same workout everyday because I am doing harm instead of good. He is the one that got me really focused onworking out because he worksout 3 to 5 times a week himself. I know I should only lose 2 to 3 lbs a week but wish I could lose 30 lbs in a week. I am going to spin class today and doing weights to change it up. I also did yoga yesterday and walked around the park.
Changing the subject a little has anyone used Lipo 6 Black for women I was going to pick that up along with my protein whey this week for my shakes. I would sure like to know if I would be wasting money buying it. Or if anyone can tell me what good fat burner they are using that I should pick up. I am taking a multi vitamin along with acai, green tea and a fish oil. Thank you all for your advice I also love hearing all your stories it keeps me motivated to work harder especially seeing all the before and after pix LOVE IT....
How long did it take for you to lose the 50lbs? I need to lose about 50lbs by next year. My husband is deployed until next year and am trying to get back to my pre pregnancy body. I am going to the gym 6 days a week and eating alot healthier and drinking alot more water. What kind of things did you do to help lose those lbs? How long did it take to start seeing results?
