I am looking for buddies. Anyone who is looking to lose about the same amount? I am going to try alternating 1+ mile walking & wii fit routine every other day. And I need help with motivation, and getting myself to do it!
I need to loose 100 lbs too. Any advice and help is greatly appreciated...I've never done this before.

The only thing that EVER helped me was forbidding any and ALL junk foods. Even for the kids and man. If HE wanted junk, HE had to agree to keep it hidden and locked away. As well as buy it himself and sneak it in. No temptation was allowed. And the kids.. well, Since I was an obese child, it was an easy deccision to forbid bad foods for them. What kind of a mother would I be if I put my kids through the same hell I went through growing up? Luckily they LOVE fruit. And I started early on in life with them forbidding sodas and sugar except on special occasions.
I buy bottled water instead of soda. Its cheaper actually and taste WAY better than.. ugh.. tap water. Uhm, lets see. Of course I kept a journal. Best to start off with the basics. Calories. Just concentrate on that. and those weightloss meals? FORGET IT. You just end up more hungry. Actually wholesome natural foods, real butter, whole wheat.. the best to fill you up. Its all about portion. If it isnt portion thats your enemy and just the junk foods, then your problem will be solved once you excorcise that from your life. Eat breakfast and snacks. I like to eat nuts. I HATE the taste and texture and they make me sick.. :p So easy to get nausious and not anything else. Have your tried Pilates? I will swear by it! Hurts like heck at first, but then after a month, your body is so use to it its like walking. I tried pilates 6 years ago and lost ALOT of weight. I went from 275 to 170 in like..8 months. But that was combined with 8 glasses of water a day, eating breakfast.. and avoiding ALL starches and sugars like hemlock, and walking. I started slow. If I excercised, I didnt walk. If I walked, I didnt excercise. And I did it 4 - 5 times a weak. Took a couple of days off from labor, but not healthy foods. And i wrote down recipes and there calories for the week.
Also, make enough for the family to have the right serving sizes. Dont make left overs. Or everyone including yourself, may be tempted to eat more than neccesary.. or have a late night snack.
Hope any of this helps. :)
I lost weight with Weight Watchers, but haven't really tried anything else seriously. I was a bean pole as a kid, because I was sick all the time. I went from one cold/ear/sinus infection to the next. So it was really weird for me to gain weight after I had a tonsillectomy and got healthy. I could eat anything and not do any activity, which I hated because i would get so tired so fast, and be a stick.
But now that I have been overweight to now obese for 10 years, it is time to start getting serious. I just don't think about stuff like I should. Lately, I have started to keep a journal of what I eat and my excersise. I post it online in this group. We are on a limited budget, and so I have cut back on pretty much all 'extras'. I don't even get juices anymore because my husband sucks it down so fast it isn't worth the price. So we are a coffee, tea, hot cocoa, water, milk family.
Oh, I gotta go check on my toddler. Hopefully I will be back soon to finish talking. :)
So, I am back again, but sadly not as quickly as I wanted to, and have forgotten my train of thought :(
So, I guess I will start a new one. I would love to have a walking partner, but since I am out in the middle of no where it has been hard to find someone. But if anyone has an idea how we could do something online to replace that, I would love it. For me the benefits of a walking buddy would be that we could chat while walking, to make it a little more fun. And also to have someone expecting/depending on me to go for the walk with them.
I have a wii fit, but with our xmas tree in the living room, I don't have room to use it right now. January will be the soonest for that. So walking is my best option right now.
Dieting is a big challenge for me because we are so limited with our budget. But also because of the budget, I should have an easier time with portion control! LOL. I did buy a bunch of pears and apples this fall from a local grower, so I do have some fruit to help with my sweet tooth. None the less, I am still going to keep a food journal this month to try and identify patterns in my eating.
I think at a minimum we could add each other as friends and pm each other daily with what is going on and give each other support & ideas. If you have any other ideas for how we can work together that would be great. I look forward to losing weight with you guys!
Yea, I have a problem with finding someone to hang with as well. I LOVE walking the mall, even though its look only and don't touch due to lack of funds. And I have even more fun when I get to talk to someone. I tried weightlossbuddies.com and met up with someone in my area but she never called back..:s Maybe I scared her off? Have you got a cell phone? Something with unlimited minutes? I have cricket and its WAY cheaper than pay as you go. Maybe you could have a walking buddy vicariously? Talk on the phone while the two of you walk. So you can talk and tell each other about plans, kids, dreams, hobbies.. and pass the time and forget about the exercise ...until the next morning..When you are rudely reminded.. :p
Just an idea for those who are back in the booney woods.
I would love to walk the mall, that sounds like so much fun, but our nearest mall is 45 minutes away :(
That is a really good idea with cell phones. Headsets would make it really easy too. I have verison, and my parents' buisness pays for it, I do some work for them, and need it for that, so really it is free. Good trade off I say! I will have to try weightlossbuddies.com too. You never know... Thanks for the ideas!
