Hi! I am looking forward to sharing successes (and failures) with you all.
I've lost about 80 pounds, went from an 18-20 to a 2-4. I have that pesky last 10 pounds to lose and I am having a tough time with it. Seems like losing the weight was easier when I was heavier!
My question is...I know to lose 2 pounds a week, you need to burn an extra 500 calories and take out 500 calories per day...but I have gotten to the point where I am going to end up eating nothing and working out all the time.
My routine is: up at 4 for a 4 mile walk with DH and Then I do 70 min on the treadmill (8.55 miles). When I was training for the half marathon, I was doing 13 miles a day, and eating more. But now that I am not training, I am not eating as much, but my blubbler tummy is still there. I know some of that is skin from the weight loss and babies stretching it out, but when I sit I can feel it roll.
I am thinking about doing the walk in the morning, the normal run but adding on a weight routine (a half hour to an hour) and another 5 or so miles in the afternoon. Just until I can drop the weight. And pick back up the marathon training in the spring.
Any advice???
Hmm.. I am confused. If you are a size 2/4, why do you need to lose weight?
I sympathize with the belly issue. Lots of us here -- including me -- have that problem. Even my hubby, who runs marathons, is 6 feet tall and 150 [sometimes less], can't lose his little pouch!
I would work on targeting the area with exercises like the plank, the bicycle, reverse crunches. I have always wondered about the excess skin issue for people that lose a lot of weight.. that would stink to lose the weight and STILL not like how you look b/c of that.
Yes, my first thought was, you should focus on firming and probably not losing more weight.
As I said, that area is SO stubborn!! My husband has been doing intensive weight training, crunches, etc., for over a year, and he STILL has that little bulge. Honestly, if we didn't have our younger daughter in an expensive private school, I would tell him to get liposuction.. he obviously isn't lazy. I think he looks awesome for 53, but it bothers him.
By the way, do you think the roll is really fat, or the excess skin you mentioned?
sounds like you are plenty thin and fit. how old are you and have you had children etc? plus with that much weight loss it may be loose skin that nothing short of a tummy tuck plastic surgery would take care of. please see what a beautiful woman you are. None of us have what we consider a "perfect" body. We do tend to obsesse over what we see as the imperfections in ourselves. Please learn to love your body as it is.
I'm sure you just have excess skin. If it really bothers you maybe you should go to a personal trainer or a doctor to see if it really is fat or just excess skin. And a few pounds if your a size 2/4 isn't bad, it's actually really unhealthy to be too thin. We are supposed to have some meat on our bones. We should be happy if our BMI is in the right section.
I agree on adding the weight training. I was prettty big and I focused on 3 things to lose. cardio-weights-diet. I spaced my meals every 3 hours and ate a pretty clean diet and I dropped 50lbs. I know that I tried for years to lose w/just cardio and as soon as I cleaned up my diet and picked up weights. I finally acheived my results.

Well it's the "pinch an inch" thing....my clothes are fitting right, and I am not sure what else I need to do.
Maybe focusing on weight training would be better than adding extra cardio. I lost the weight by walking/running. Maybe it's time to focus on firming up.
