OK, so I just stared my diet on December 1st-I have already lost 11pounds since then so I am obviously doing some things right. OK, so heres my question.......I am satisfied w/ my weightloss so far, but I would like to know what excersizes will work the best against my damn stubborn belly fat????
I have lost weight everywhere else, including my boobs and butt.SOMEBODY PLEASE HELP!!!
Ok, one more thing, I HATE situps/crunches!!!
I agree with Tae-Bo - it will target your internal abs. Sit ups and crunches will not do that.
As for not losing the belly fat - one of the things I figured out was that you will begin losing in the areas that you put the weight on last first. The first place I could feel my weight loss was in my butt - I didn't have a big butt. Next I began feeling it in my arms. The only place I thought I was fat was in my mid section but that area didn't seem to budge.
Finally, common sense took over and I realized the fat was coming off opposite of how I put it on. You are doing a great job - keep it up. Eventually, you'll get to the excess belly fat and you will look fabulous.

Tae-bo all the way.when I use to do it my abs and arms were defined.Billy will make you sweat but I loved the results.I just started back and my stomach is trimming down again. I do the bootcamp lower body and basic bootcamp 4x week
good morning.. i too have started working on losing weight in dec and have lost 7 lbs and being in my later 40's & 4 children i have that belly issue as most all of us do, but the best exercise i have found is hip hop abs dvds theres a few moves that really get the deep belly muscles working n tightening check w/amazon to buy the series used they would be pretty cheap that way i would think, but yeah theres no floor crunches just a few moves that get the job done...good luck i know its hard but to do it, we have to stick to it :-)
You HAVE to strengthen your Abs if you want to lose belly fat, just the way it is. Try out Real Age.com they have lots of excercises fot working on your core. They even have daily 20 min workouts that concentrate on the area. I really like this website it is such a great resource. Belly Fat is the most important to lose.
Yeah, that's the part of my body I am most dissatisfied with. You don't mention your weight.. NO amount of ab exercises will reveal your muscles until you have lost enough weight. I am 152, and I bet you anything that when I lose 20 lbs, the muscle will be there.. you just can't see it!
Two great ab exercises are: the bicycle, and the plank [if you don't know what they are, you can find videos online..] Tae bo --mentioned by two of the moms here-- sounds interesting, I might check that out.
Also, just being conscious during the day to suck in your abs helps, as you walk, drive, etc..
Sometimes abs are not fun to work on but like anything else if you want to results you have to work the abs. The key is to target all areas of the abs. Many people do not know that there are different muscles of the core anatomy. I recommend doing an exercises that target the Obliques, Rectus abdominis, transverus abdominis and even the serratus anterior which is all that makes up your core. Some exercises do target multiple muscle areas but some target and area more then others. Like Situp using a swiss ball targets more of the transverus abdominis when done right. Crunches on the floor targets the rectus abdominis and obliquus externus (which is more the side muscle towards your back). Planks target more the pectoralis major, anterior deltoid, rectus abdominis and transversus abdominis, along with a lot of Leg muscles. The exercises we hate sometimes work the best! I hope you find what works for you and you find some enjoyment in it.

hey everyone i'm a new member SHARON, I have some belly fat that i need to get rid of bad! i did sit ups for a while then i stopped cause it hurt, so now i'm walking everyday about 3 miles. and getting on my exercising bike. i started last week but hope to see the results soon.

No disrespect to the women below, but I wonder if they are built to carry weight mostly in their belly, as I, and what sounds like you, are? I've done Tae-bo, and while it gave me a good work out, and yes, I lost weight, it didn't help my belly fat much, neither did it work for my mom. Pilates that focuses on abs is great, and I've recently discovered that 30 day shred, and boy, does that take it away faster than I have EVER seen! I've been doing it for 12 days and lost 7 lbs on that alone. She does the circuts, and while yes, there are some crunches, they're all different crunches. Just doing standard crunches alone aren't going to get the results you're looking for, you need to do obliques and transverse abs as well. You want to work all your abs, whereas, simple basic crunches, only work the top part of your abs, leaving you with a koala pouch at the bottom, as I like to call it lol. Not only that, you're doing that in between cardio and strength training, so your heart rate is up, and your muscles are warm, so you're getting more effective results from the ab work out. Hope this helps! =)
I'd like to add. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE, so NOT do sit-ups. This is VERY old school. Crunches are way more effective, and sit-ups are bad for your back. They cause more injuries, and you aren't targeting the abs, you're just injuring your lower back! I don't want to see anyone cause themselves any problems.
