How many calories is too many to burn in one day? Or does it not matter as long as you are eating some of them back?

The key is to have a 500 calorie deficit.

For instance, when I was in loss mode, I would set my calorie burn for 2000 calories ( this would include my BMR + exercise, errands, etc....) and my consumption for 1500 calories. On any given day I would burn 2000-2300 calories and consume 1400-1500 calories. This would ensure that I had a 500 calorie deficit or more.

One pound of fat contains 3500 calories. You have to burn an extra 3500 calories per week to lose 1 lb of fat. 500 calorie deficit* 7 days= 3500 calories= 1 lb loss
