Ok, so here is my weight loss journal.  Today is my starting point, Sept 14th.  Let's see what we can do to become a healthier Reb!

Journal Topic: Getting to know me

I'm 8.5 months post delivery from my first child. She still breast feeds and sometimes I wonder if that contributes to my weight. Before I got pregnant I was at my lowest weight in my adult life.... I was wearing a size 6 and sometimes a 4! But post-baby I have been on a struggle to get back there or for that matter just CLOSER would make me happy. I'm about 5ft 5in and I weigh 180lbs. My boobs grew so much that I had to find a special store to buy the nursing bras (motherhood no longer carries them large enough) - I have to use a 36F!!  Also, my tummy doesn't seem to want to go back to being flat (of course to be fair I think I've probably done only about 200 situps in the last 8 months) and so I don't want to show my baby fat belly that has no baby in it.  So I have been trying to buy clothes that fit but are not snug, this leaves me with Large or XL in many cases (as I said, my boobs are huge for my height!).  To me that is a big saddening... I know it's not the end of the world and I was never a super skinny girl (I have always had a larger than normal booty for a white girl!) but I was at least usually around a size 8.  Right now in pants I'm lucky if I can squeeze my chunky thighs or bootylicious bum into a 12. 

I've never been very superfical and this isn't completely about the way that I look.  For me, it's more that I know I'm not healthy right now and it's reflected in my size.  Sure, I would love to look fab, who wouldn't?!  But I would also love to know that I won't have any health issues due to being overweight.  This is especially a concern for me because two years ago I had DVT, deep vein thrombosis, a blood clot in my leg.  It was very scary and after all was said and done I saw a specialist and he said I also had blood in my lungs when everything happened and that I was lucky to be alive.  I praise God for giving me more time to be here on Earth and to straighten out my life.  However, since I have had that condition once, it is more likely to re-occurr and guess what?!  Being overweight is a contributing factor!

Other health concerns.... in my mom's family there is a history of diabetes, heart disease, high cholesterol and probably a score of other things I'm not remembering right now.  On my dad's side there is a history of alcoholism and high blood pressure.  So you can imagine there are a lot of risks to having an unhealthy life style for me.

So thinking of all this I think that I should really come up with a better plan (heck, any plan is better because I currently have NO plan) for how I can become a healthier me.  For today I'll put this in the back of my mind and mull it over.

Some suggestions WATER! Drink it. Take your body weight divide it by half and that's how many oz to drink to loose. Also you might want to look into calorie counting. Clarie in our group can give your bmr and help you get started with that. Exercise , you want to be doing 30 min and up 4 to 6 days a week to loose! Eat Healthy! Lean meats,fruits, veggies and less processed foods. YOU CAN DO THIS MOMMA. We are here for you!

welcome and good luck!  :)  have you come up with a plan yet?  i love counting calories and i use myfitnesspal.com but there's also livestrong.com and sparkpeople.com.  :)

Today, was ok, up until dinner.... BLT.... i'm sure i didn't need the bacon.... but who doesn't love bacon???  I live with my parents and they are great, I love them, but I think my mom is a bad food influence.  Anyone have a constructive way to ask her not to be?

Still no plan.... maybe this weekend....

You have to want this for yourself...therefore you need to be able to tell other people no when it comes to food.  It's a hard thing to do and we all struggle with it at times!  Can you offer up suggestions for healthier meals if that's the issue?  Is that an option?
