I am obessed and I'm thinking about getting the lap band surgery
Ive tried working out and it would work for at least three weeks and then after that its back to the same thing I lost 6 pounds but I am 318 but still proportioned but I rather be down to 190 and proportioned , I'm not sure if I should get this surgery or should I try another surgery that will be better then the lap band because I hear a lot of bad things about it .
Surgery scares me. IDK why it does... foreign objects... plus I feel like I need to be able to gain control over myself.
Are you in the range for that surgery or would you be a better candidate for gastric bypass? My cousin had the lapband and it did not work for her... she was reevaluated and they did GB because she was heavier and should not have gotten the LB.
What has your Dr said?
How about Weight Watchers instead? I know a woman who has lost 150 pounds in a year and counting. Those surgeries can be so dangerous.
I personally don't think these surgeries work there definitely not teaching you to eat healthy there forcing you to watch your portions.. I know quiet a few people that have had the Lapband and weeks ,months after taking it out the weight is back. The reason they did lose the weight was because the band wouldn't let them keep anything down, that just does not sound healthy,But to each its own Good luck with your weight loss and decision.
The Doctor told me that I can loose weight on my own and how if they seen that I'm trying and its coming off then they won't go through with any surgeries but I've lost 6 pounds and after loosing it now my weight won't go anywhere I haven't gained or loose during the holidays I'm 318 and they say for a person my size how I am proportioned I just want to get down to 190 and from there I feel I will be okay to not be in any kind of pain because I have arthritis in my knees
I even tried counting calaries in the very beginning and how many to have each day it lasted for 3 weeks , I also was told don't be to hard on myself because my children are back to back my daughter is two and my son is one and they are born on the same day
Surgery is NOT a quick fix, AND you STILL have to change your eating habits! Why not change them without going through surgery? I personally believe that there ARE instances where surgery is appropriate, but surgery is WAY overused. I cannot believe they are actually ADVERTISING Lap Bands now.
It sounds like you're a yo-yo dieter. You need to change your eating habits, not diet. Start making small changes. You don't have to change everything overnight and starve yourself to lose weight.
I was 269 lbs when I started my journey, and I am 193 right now. My biggest problem was portion sizes, and I already had the knowledge, but I needed a big fat reality check. I started logging my food intake (actually measuring my food instead of eyeballing made a big difference in accuracy!) on sparkpeople.com (there are also livestrong.com and myfitnesspal.com, but I like SP the best!). No wonder I was so heavy! I was already drinking primarily water and plenty of it, but that would be a great step to take.
Then start adding more fruits and veggies. If fresh isn't available, try frozen (canned is often devoid of vitamins and loaded with sodium). Aim for 10 servings a day, ideally.
Next, switch to whole grains. Then, lean proteins and dairy products.
Ideally, you can get rid of processed foods, too. Start cooking at home instead of eating out (if you do eat out).
I recommend eating clean, which is what I do. Again, you don't have to go 100% overnight (I still only eat about 95% clean). Factor in treats here and there!
One big thing- don't beat yourself up if you DO slip up. We ALL slip up here and there, and it's all about getting back on the train and moving forward, rather than letting it derail you.
Find exercise you enjoy and will therefore stick with. If it gets your heart rate up, it counts!
Final thought- if you're not ready to lose weight, you won't. Period. For many of us, it takes hitting "rock bottom", myself included. You need to be ready to be serious about losing weight in order to have success with it.
YOU CAN DO THIS. You DESERVE to be healthy and happy, and you CAN lose weight without surgery.
Good luck!

honestly its easier said than done , if your walking around with weight from child baring and you had your children back to back and your battling your weight just like me then I can understand where your coming from .
the funny part is that I am portioning my food and I said I lost 6 pounds so far I also get on the bike in my house for 20 minutes a day don't understand why my weight is not bugging anymore I also drink water and also I don't have sugar in my intake nor salt I substitute with things that help with me loosing weight
