Bikram Yoga - I'm finally doing it. (Update, I did it!)
Okay I've made excuse after excuse to not go because I'm scared of being hot, but I finally registered for a class. (I bought a chunk of 10 classes a month ago)
105 degrees...an hour an a half of yoga...I must be insane.
I love yoga, but the hot scares me, lol.

I also had to find the appropriate skimpy clothing that I'm comfortable in, and I ordered a yogitoes towel with my tax return.
So wish me luck, ladies! Any advice is welcome! lol.
I know someone mentioned a while back to put a few hours between eating and going, so I'm taking a 10am class (I eat at 7) so I should be good there.

Update! Well I made it.

I spent the entire class cursing myself and the teacher as to why I chose to do this to myself, and which genius thought it was smart to exercise in a 105 degree room. Then when I was done I drove home with the windows down, soaked in my own sweat (like, dripping) and I felt pretty decent.
I wanted to say - I will be taking my ten classes I paid for and I believe that's all I can handle of being hot. I do plan on continuing regular yoga, lol.
The teacher also told me if I start to freak out, to sit down and breathe for a minute. I was thinking, why would I need to do that? But 30 minutes in I was doing the, "Omg I'm hot GET ME OUT OF HERE" thing, so I sat down and followed his directions and I did feel better, ROFL.
As far as the poses, they were far more challenging than what I was used to, and I think that's because you don't have to work hard to get your heart rate up in that ridiculously hot room. I don't feel sore or anything, it didn't even really feel much like a workout, so I guess that's good. :D

Good luck, mama! Take some of those socks and gloves that help with grip- I know I'd be sliding all over the place! I have to use them even in a cold room! I'd need it on top of a mat that's sticky. Is the towel like the socks and gloves?
Good thinking on the eating- that will definitely keep your stomach in better shape!
Have fun! Let us know how it goes- I've always steered clear of Bikram, too!

Just remember if you start feeling dizzy drink water take a break. Don't over push yourself. And have a great time momma!! Let us know how it goes!
Yeah it is, it has the grippy stuff on it. I got a big enough one that covers my whole mat. Hopefully that'll be enough. I know in regular yoga I slip and slide too, but that was before the towel purchase lol.

Quoting haydsmom2007:Oh wow! I don't know if I could do that. I hate being hot.
So do I, LOL.
I actually decided to try it because I took yoga a few years ago and loved it, and groupon had this for $39 (normally $120), so I was like - oh heck fine. I figure if I hate it, at least I got some exercise and it didn't cost a fortune? I'm looking at the bright side here haha.

Oh sweet deal! I took yoga a few years ago at my community college, lol... I liked it a lot I just have never done it again. I don't really know why.
No advice...just jealous. I've always wanted to do their 90 day challenge.. but don't live close enough to one of their studios.
