Weight Loss, Fitness & Health Weight Loss, Fitness & Health
So I work out at the gym with my husband. He goes bright and early before work two days a week. I go to zumba before lunch twice a week and a spin class on Friday afternoons. And then three nights a week we go together and that is when we do most of our free weights and a ton of cardio.

My issue is my booty and my thighs. My last baby went straight to my butt and legs and I am having trouble getting that off. I am trying low weights high reps machine squats but it isn't doing a lot.

Any advice on things I can do to help would be so very appreciated!

I am 5'3 140.8 pounds this morning. I am trying to get down to 125 (pre first pregnancy weight). I do two Zumba classes a week 1 spin class a week and two weight sessions with my husband a week all are an hour and a half.

Quoting mcginnisc:

If you are under 1200 you are in starvation mode. I can guarantee it. If you give us your age, height, weight and the number of days per week your workout, one of us can do your BMR for you.

Nobody should eat below 1200... If you weight more than me, are taller or younger than me, your BMR is going to be over 1300... I am 37, 5'1" and 120 lbs- my BMR is 1298. I workout 6 days per week intensely running and doing Asylum- 1298*1.725=2239....to lose 1 lb per week: 2239-500=1739...MY calorie range is 1298-1739 calories per day to lose 1 lb per week.

I need your age as well!

No problem!

BMR: 1450 ( this is the least amount of calories your body needs daily to function and be inactive)

Maintenance while working out 3-5 days per week: 1450*1.55=2247

To lose 1 lb per week: 2247-500=1747

Your ideal calorie range is 1450-1747 calories per day to lose 1 lb per week.

Wow that seems like so much, especially compared to what I'm used to. I can't even wrap my head around that. What if I wanted to lose 1.5-2 pounds a week?

Oh good, I'm so glad Claire saw this!!  When I saw your reply to my response, I was like, you need to eat more!!!  We need to do your BMR for you!!  You're starving yourself!!!

I know that can seem like SOOO many calories, but it really will help.  Your body needs fuel to run properly, and you have to remember that food is fuel!

You need to eat at the very least your BMR.  Never eat below that number, even if you're trying to lose weight faster.  It seems counterproductive, but you cannot go below that number.  If you want to lose faster, you need to burn more calories through working out, but remember that healthy weight loss is 1-2 lbs per week, and at 140 lbs, it's not likely to happen at the 2 lb per week rate, because you're so close to a healthy weight.

Unless you start working out at the pro level:

1450*1.9=2755

To lose 2 lbs per week: 2755-1000=1755

Ideal calorie range is 1450-1755 calories per day, but you would have to workout 3-4 hours per day at least 6 days per week.

Suz is right, you are very close to a healthy weight, so 2 lbs is slim for you. 1-2 lbs is a healthy loss weekly. Slow and steady is the best way to go about weight loss...
