I was on that pill for about two years. I didn't gain any weight at all. None. I didn't lose any either, but that is because I wasn't serious about it and didn't really try.

I have had a mirena IUD in for 4 years and have managed to lose 53 pounds, so I don't think it really keeps people from losing weight as long as you stay accountable for your eating and exercising.

Ortho TriCyclen never affected my weight. Depo Provera sure did- 45 lbs in 9 months!! I have Mirena now, and I've lost 100 lbs so far with it in. Even when I had it out while we were TTC I didn't see a change in my rate of loss.

2 moms liked this

Not exercising and eating poorly make it impossible to lose weight.

The pill might slow things down, but metabolism still works...

I've been on birth control for a few months now and I've lost weight while on it.
