my father had his stroke..I got the call at 8 in the morning from my mom. He was at IHOP having coffee with a friend when it happened. He lived for about a month before he died. It's hard to believe it's been 10 years. There hasn't been a day since that I haven't thought about him.

Big hugs, mama. Those aren't good anniversaries. Bu you're saving yourself from the same fate!
I am trying my hardest. My dad died at 66 and his dad and his grandmother all died of strokes in their mid 60's...that is one tradition I do not want to continue.
Quoting km1970:
I completely understand that. My grandparents all either passed away or had crippling events in their 50s (heart attacks, strokes, cancer), and I really hope to avoid the same fate. When my blood pressure got to 138/88 at age 29 it scared me straight. That was part of what spurred my weight loss.
