So, today began the insanity of school shopping for the girls. Heath took Karli for her supplies while I took Lilly to Karate this morning. Then, I took Lilly for supplies when she got out of class... I happened to see Heath and Karli leaving Target when we were going in, but I thought they would just go home or do something else since I had planned on taking them clothes shopping separately today. As we were getting Lilly's supplies, Heath and Karli came into the store and Heath said " I figured you can get Karli's clothes too since we are here." *le sigh*

So, we finish with supplies and go look for clothes... What. A. Nightmare!

To give you an idea of why it is a nightmare to shop for my girls... they go to private school, so they have a strict dress code/uniform. I love the fact that it is so easy in the mornings, but...finding clothes for my youngest is next to impossible for this dress code.

Dress code is as follows : Shirts have to be plain/ plaid or striped ( shirts are easy to find in her size..no worries there!)

Pants: Karli can wear jeans for the next 2 years except on Wednesdays. On Wednesdays, she has to wear Khaki pants/skirt or shorts with her uniform shirt for Chapel Day..

The difference is that Lilly cannot wear jeans at all..she has to wear blue/black or khaki every day but Wednesday when it is the same for everyone: khaki with the uniform shirt..

Here is the impossible part: Karli will be 4 in 2 weeks. She is 39.5" tall and 27 lbs. She wears a 12 month in skirts and shorts, but needs a 4T for length! I had to get her at least 1 pair of pants and 1 skirt in Khaki and they were 4T, fully adjusted and are still way too big!

So, now I have to go on the hunt for jeans, shoes, a belt ( yeah...like they have belts for a 13" waist! LOL) for Karli.. and more pants/shorts/skirts for Lilly as well as shoes and belt for her as well.

I spent $119 at Old Navy and $20 at Gymboree today. At Old Navy, Lilly got 1 pair of Khaki pants, 1 skirt and 1 pair of shorts and a couple of shirts.. Karli got 1 pair of pants and shirts.. I got Karli a skirt at Gymboree...and $100 at Target between the 2 kids... now, I have no issue with the money... I just hate that I didn't even get everything clothing wise because my kid is so tiny! I still have to buy uniform shirts through the school as well.

I wish Karli was normal.. she eats all.the.time, but the kid has the most amazing metabolism ever. I know how my mom felt trying to clothe me now since I was tiny when I was little as well. LOL ... Today was pure torture...and it's not over since I still have to shop some more since school starts in 16 days.

yikes.... I'm glad that my son is easier. It's hard because he's tall and skinny, so he needs like a size 8 in pants length, but like a 6 in waist... luckily they adjust that well.

Have you thought of making her basic pants? Like getting khaki fabric and making pants?

Yeah... I don't sew.. LOL ... My mother tried desperately to teach me when I was a kid, but I was too busy playing football and basketball with the older boys to pay attention.. I can sew a button on and that is it. LOL I'm useless when it comes to sewing. I am thinking of having my mom make her some pants, but she lives in FL so it will take a while for her to make them and mail them to me once she has the measurements. Needless to say, I'm not enjoying school shopping right now. ROFL

My 7 year old is like that... she can wear a 4 in her waist, but pants come to her calves.  If I buy them for length, they fall off of her.  Luckily, she prefers skirts to pants usually.  I'm actually in a really good spot with my kids... I have 3 girls, 7, 6, and 4 and they can all wear the same size clothes.

I remember those days...my girls went to a charter school and had a similar dress code. My one daughter sounds like she's built like yours..she's 8 and weighs 51 pounds...she has longer legs so by the time things fit just right, they were too short..and then my other daughter is built like her dad and has no legs so everything has to have 3-4 inches cut off.

my mom didn't really teach me to sew, but my first job was at a quilting shop where we taught little kids to sew. So I kind of learned from there, lol. I am thinking of getting some sweatpants fabric and making my son some more sweatpants. He seems to like them more when i make them... weird kid.

Huuu, our child/children? The joy of our lives? Our gifth from God? We Mums leaves our lives for them, they comes first in our lives. We worry about them too much. When they are skinny, we complain, when they are big, we complain, or maybe not complaining, we WORRY. I know how hard it is for us( mothers) to do everything concerning them, from the day we get pregnant, through the nine months and delivery. Wow, what a super mothers are we. Taking care of them from day one till their first birthday, 2nd 3rd and so on until they can stay or do things on their own. Look at us here asking other Mum what they did to lose weight, be in shape etc. these little angels will one day come to this stage, I really hope they don't be obis at all, because it is very hard to lose weight. Be strong Mama, they are fine in what size and shape they are in now. Until maybe they are 10/15 years, then we may start to worry. May God always give us courage, understanding, knowladge, power and LOVE to be able to do our best for them. God bless our children, bless all parents in Jesus Name.

My kids are small too. My DD just turned 4 a few days ago. She is just now 33 lbs. She finally tripled her birth weight!! Lol she is the same height as your LO. She too wears some 12 month skirts (she has one 3 month skirt that fits her OMG it's insane) she needs 3T to 4T in length for her pants but nothing fits her waist. We did find belts to fit her at Target. We bought ones with heart holes all the way around so we can adjust it. My DS is 27 lbs but only about 37.5 inches tall. He needs 12 month waist but 2T length. Its so hard to shop for them! I feel your pain.

I have a similar clothing problem with my oldest tall and lanky, I've has to wear xs in boys for length because his legs are so long if I gt his 4t 5t he looks like a freak. He weights 40lbs he's been in the 40lb range since he was 2 since then he's only gotten taller! I don't even know how tall he is now, but once again, Im going to have to up m a size that's not even going to fit him because he's a string bean

I have to add notches to his belts :/

I think dd is going to be the same way she 2.5 and hasn't gained weight in idk a year? But it's getting taller by the second, I have to take in all of her cloths an inch for them to fit Hight wise, and all of the poor girls dresses which she loves are just too short.

And my 7 week old as well he's grown 6-7 inches in 7 weeks 27 inches! A friend of mine just had her sons 6 MONTH check up and he's 27 inches and weighs 9 more pounds lol.

Cloths shopping sucks! I wish I had their problem lol
