Runners - what do you consider a trail? **updated with pics**

I know it probably differs depending on where you live. But for me there is a paved trail that goes for 50+ miles that starts right across the street. I bike and run on it. But in my head when I picture a trail I picture a clearing through the woods, or a gravel or dirt road through the mountains. Unfortunately we don't have stuff like that here in FL. So what is a trail to you?

I added some pics in the replies of the trail I run on. I'd love to see pics of trails u all run on :)

I would think a trail wouldn't be paved. But I've never run on one :)

Near me something called a "trail"  wouldn't be paved, but I suppose it's sort of a regional thing based on your geography, you know?

When I think of trail I think woods w/ dirt or gravel. We only have one pathway that is paved & it's a very small loop maybe 1 mile around.

Me too! But that's all we have around here and the one across the street is called a "trail" here. I think it must be a regional thing. We aren't lucky enough here in fl to have nice scenic trails

It must be because we don't have any unlaced trails around here. Where do u live?

We have a paved trail in Atlanta- the Silver Comet Trail..they do tons of races on it- bike and running... we also have trails in the woods, but the majority of them are north of Atlanta...there is one south of me, but it is an hour away like the ones on the northside...therefore I get a treadmill or have to go to the park and run on a paved "trail" as well. ( it's safer than the roads though since there are no bike lanes or sidewalks around here)

Exactly! Much safer and more peaceful here. The one I run on is next to a bunch of pastures so I get to see some beautiful sunsets and sunrises when I run :)

1 mom liked this

Upstate New York.  LOTS of actual dirt type trails here.  It's very hilly and only an hour away are the Adirondack mountains, so it's very trail-filled.

My thought too and I am not a trail runner.
