MY FIRST 5K RUN - COMPLETED....WITH A TWIST!!!
....drumroll please....ROFL....the twist is....that as I've stressed out about this run for the last few days, tonight was the race. We were told that anyone who did this in 45 minutes or under would be getting awarded based on their age group - I remember when the race started - I looked at the older lady next to me and told her "45 minutes...ya right!!!"....3.1mile run...
34.05 minutes!!!! I TOOK 2ND PLACE IN MY AGE GROUP!!!!!!! I am soooooooooooooo ridiculously excited and stoked!!! I told my hubby that I'd be happy just to finish the race....and here I am, getting called up to the stage for an award, and pictures with our town councelman for our local newspaper!! You can BET I'll be getting copies of that newspaper, that's for sure!!!!!
Tomorrow is my last day of Insanity - and I'm going to send a little email to Beachbody along with my application for my free shirt and my before and after pics....there was NO way I would've been able to do this before Insanity - literally, NONE!!! I've gained so much muscle, and endurance from Insanity, it's absolutely crazy!!!! I ran almost the entire 3.1 miles tonight - never, ever, have I been able to do that in my life! Even when I was skinny I never ran like that!!! I'm sooooo amazed - you know, I got down on myself for awhile there - only lost 10lbs - but what I've gained is so much more than what I've lost, in my mind anyway, because this is like the grand finale to me. I wanted to run a 5k after Insanity was over - tomorrow is my last day of Insanity!!!
Hubby is so impressed right now! LOL! He couldn't believe I did it that fast (neither could I! ha ha ha!) He had a GREAT suggestion! I had to wear 2 sports bra's tonight because I went shopping the other day and couldn't find a smaller one to fit me, so I wore 2 sports bras (and it really did help), but my workout clothes have become too big now, and I've really just been using them because I don't have anything else to wear while doing Insanity (I have clothes for just running or what have you but I needed some serious workout clothes for this workout), but now, we're going to retire them after tomorrow's last Insanity workout! We're going to frame my clothes (AFTER they're washed, LOL) and put my award in it, along with my "I EARNED IT" shirt from Insanity once I get that!! Yay!! What a great idea huh???? ;)
Anyway, I HAD to let you all know - you gals have been so ridiculously supportive, and I know that I never would have got as far as I have with any of this without your motivation and friendship. Most of you gals are on MyFitnessPal with me and keep me motivated every single day! I appreciate you all more than you know!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
