hello ladies

my dd (4YO) is starting kindy in september.  other than sandwiches, what else can i give her for lunch?  snacks i've got down but lunch is what i'm struggling with.  any suggestions/variety would be greatly appreciated!  dd will not be able to heat anything up via microwave and there will be no storage in a fridge so whatever she eats will need to be kept cool via icepack in her lunch box.  please tell me what you pack your kiddos for lunch!

thanks!

Get a thermos so that you can send hot stuff, too!

Be creative...cheese and crackers, veggies and hummus, salads, etc can all be good alternatives to sandwiches :)

My kids get a sandwich, fruit and a cheese stick and a drink. My goal this year is healthier drink options so I plan on sending a water bottle in as well.

My son is picky and likes pbj everyday, but for a treat once in a while I'll sendmac and cheese in a thermos, pizza wrapped in tin foil.  Put milk in a thermos and send some dry cereal in a bag (this is a fun surprise for them).  Cut up cantelope, apple slices, grapes, string cheese, graham crackers, popcorn.

My husband likes a slice of deli roast beef wrapped around raw or cooked veggies.  :-)

This has lots of kid-friendly packing solutions, including a container for hot foods.  You can broaden your options greatly.

Kraft Foods has lots of ideas for creative food planning that can make even the every day sandwich worth looking forward to!  They also offer suggestions of things to pair with it.  They do push their own products, but regardless, it can give you some ideas.

This site looks promising.  I haven't had a chance to really browse it, but it also gives other tips along with some recipes that should be kid friendly for taking to school.

Another promising site.  This one also has some recipes on it.

And one last one.

Hopefully, I was able to get you some ideas.
