Did you start buying new clothes right away when you started losing weight or did you wait?
I've bought the bare minimum along the way, and done thrift store shopping where I could. I haven't bought anything particularly exciting along the way, just because I go through stuff too fast. I can't really justify spending the money. You can also find clothes in lots on Craigslist or eBay. I am just now considering buying new clothes, because I don't know how my weight loss rate will be now that I'm in the nursing program, but at the same time, I may still lose, so I'm going to see how it goes and decide from there. So far, I've lost another pound, so that's good news! I'm also back in the gym, since we have access on campus, but my running mileage has dropped dramatically, so again, no idea what's to come! =)

i waited and only bought when i absolutely needed to. the clothes i wore still fit me albeit they're ill-fitting now (bigger) so for pants i had to buy new ones but shirts i just alter them.

I just buy must haves and only minimums at that.
I bought as bare minimum as needed. I'd keep a pair of jeans or two on hand in the next size down and just deal with big shirts. It's been over a year and I'm just now buying pieces for a new wardrobe.
I had some clothes that I had saved from weight before.. so I am slowly bringing them out. :)
I bought a new pair of jeans and 1 pair of pants to wear whenever I went out, since I went down a jean size in a short period of time. I would buy as little as you can get away with until you are 2 sizes smaller.
Yes, cheaper for pants cause they might be too big once I get to goal but tops I am willing to spend more cause I think for most tops I will probably still be a medium.
