What do you like to do to relax?

A healthy mind as just as important as a healthy body. Relaxation is a process that decreases the effects of stress on your mind and body. Relaxation techniques are a great way to help with stress management.

The Benefits of relaxation techniques are:

  • Slowing your breathing rate
  • Increasing blood flow to major muscles
  • Reducing muscle tension
  • Improving concentration
  • Reducing frustration/anger
  • Boosting confidence

Common relaxation techniques are:

  • Hypnosis
  • Massage
  • Visualization
  • Meditation
  • Progressive muscle relaxation (focus on slowly tensing and then relaxing each muscle group)
  • Tai chi
  • Autogenic relaxation (relaxation that comes from within using visual imagery and body awareness)
  • Yoga

I studied yoga for years and know several relaxation techniques. I use them mainly if I am having trouble falling asleep or if I realize that I am anxious about something.  For relaxing time for me, I read and play number or word games.

I used to practice Yoga, but I have not for years... Now, my favorite way to relax is sitting on the couch with my husband and lids watching tv.... Sleeping also comes to mind since I am a busy mom and don't get as much sleep as I used to.lol

A good book a good glass of wine & a great massage are my relaxation techniques. I try to get some relaxing time in a couple times a week.

Yoga and sleep. Mostly sleep. Other times it's listening to music or reading. I get every other weekend kid free to relax. It's my favorite time to be super lazy lol. Those weekends I do sleep a lot. I also go to the bookstore.

I don't get to relax... even my baths end up with a child playing in the water... Not exactly relaxing when you've got to keep pushing them back, because they, literally, put their whole top half in the tub, lol.

But, I don't get relaxing time... I'm a stay at home mom. I go to sleep with the kids, I get up with the kids. I do breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I do ER trips, doc visits, chiro visits, and even every tiny thing that needs signed at school... I do. There is no time to truly relax.
