Welcome to Day 9 of the New Year Weight Loss Challenge!

Let's Plank!
Yesterday we talked about posture and briefly touched on tummy tightening. Today is all about abs and building core strength.

There are numerous ab exercises you can do to tone and build your abs and core strength. Today we are going to focus on planks. Planks are considered one of the best exercises for acheiving these results. Planks work the abs, back and core stabilizer muscles. Plus all you need is a floor and a mat or towel, no equipment or gym membership necessary!

Basic Front Plank

I use all sorts of planks. I probably have great abs under my mommy tummy. :(

I don't have the upper body strength yet to try planking. I go to the gym 4 times a week starting this week. I do 30 mins treadmill, 10 mins on the stationary bike and then use the weights to work on tightening everything.

I've never done planks but might try it out after I lose some weight and get a little stronger.

Yes, I do them. I work on my core at least 3 times a week.

i would love to be able to do them.. but right now i am just starting oout and need something really gentle at first.. i have a bad back and knee...

I've done them in the past, I can't currently because of tendonitis in both shoulders.

Never done planks and won't try them til I'm down a bit more weight then we will see.
