HRMs worm on the wrist?

Does anyone have any experience with these? I know that the polar, fit bits and body bugs are really accurate. I just can't afford one of those so I got a cheapy from Walmart to track my hr and calories. Does anyone know if they are at all accurate? It's one of those ones that tracks over a period of 24 hours. I've had it on now for almost 2 1/2 hours and it says I've burned 476 calories.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks ladies. Hope you all have a great night.

A HRM is only going to be accurate for workouts- not all day. They are not meant for all day. Also, unless you are wearing a chest strap, it is not going to be very accurate.

So was this just a waste of money then?

I totally agree here.

Luckily, WalMart has a pretty liberal return policy!  =)  I'd spend the money on one with a chest strap, but again, don't count on it for all day use.  Take a look at Amazon.

You can also get the Fitbit Zip for like $70, which is less than most HRMs.

Hmmm... that definitely doesn't sound accurate.  I would see if Walmart will take it back.  Sometimes, you can get great discounts at Academy Sports, Dicks Sporting Goods, or Sports Authority.  Look for coupons.  I have a Polar, and I love it.  There are some fairly reasonable Polars on the market. wink
