What's your favorite way to get in exercise? Also a question about yoga
I'm wanting to start yoga but I have no idea where to start. Any good ones on Netflix and do I need to buy anything? Even if you don't know about yoga, what's your favorite way to get in exercise?
And I know nada about yoga. I've done it in p90x but honestly it kicks my ass
I love yoga. My first class was a beginner class at the community college near my condo. She taught us the moves and how to breathe. It helped for later yoga classes...I didn't feel so lost. I love yoga in a class setting, personally. Groupon is a good place to look for cheap classes ($20 or less, most of the time) if that's something you'd ever consider trying.
I love trying new things so I check netflix, youtube and by dvd's.
I used to have a ton of workout videos saved on Netflix, but they took them all off of streaming.
Youtube has tons of fitness videos, though. My favorites are done by FitnessBlender and Sparkpeople.
Yoga is what got me started. I went to a class. I thought I would hate it and be super self-conscious, but I fell in love immediately. Classes are good because you have someone there to correct your form, especially if you're just beginning. If you can't take a class, there are lots of youtube videos. Here are some of my favorite online instructors:
Dr. Melissa West - very gentle
Sadie Nardini - more powerful and focused on core strength
Be Fit Yoga - some Sadie Nardini and some Rainbeau Mars. Fairly short workouts
There are many, many more out there, too. Aside from a yoga mat, the only things you might need would be blocks (I don't have any personally) or a strap ( I just got one, but I've used a scarf in the past) - but obviously you can get away without props for most workouts.
I haven't done yoga regularly in 10 years, so I'm not a big help there!
I do more running now. I fit it in where I can, and strength train as well. I have to be flexible, because my schedule is all over the board.
