Welcome to Day 25 of the New Year Weight Loss Challenge

Avoiding Belly Fat

One of the most common questions in weight loss, is how to get rid of the belly. The answers is through proper diet and exercise.
The one thing to understand is that not all body fat is the same. Meaning that where you carry fat matters. If you carry weight around your abdomen, the health risks are greater than carrying weight in the hips and thighs area. Belly fat is stored deep under the surface and surrounds the liver and abdominal organs. This stored fat is linked to a higer risk of diabetes and insulin resistance.
The best way to avoid dangerous fat around the belly is to cut out or cut back on food and drinks containing calories from fructose such as energy drinks, sodas, sports drinks and coffee drinks. Processed foods like doughnuts, cereal, candy and muffins also fall into that catergory. Cutting out sugary food and drinks will lead to a slimmer waistline and healthier you.
If you are craving something sweet, reach for a piece of fruit instead.
Lightly flavoring your water is a great way to quench your thirst without all the added calories and fructose
. For ideas on flavoring your water, click here.

How often do you get a 'sweet tooth' craving? How do you combat it?
Have you cut out or cut back on sugary food and drinks?
If so, what have you replaced them with?
Do you keep fresh fruit on hand?

I'm cutting lots of processed and sugary foods. I have stocked up on berries to satisfy my sweet tooth.

I haven't had sugary drinks in my home since I was pregnant and I am not really a fan of sugary things. I do keep a bar of dark chocolate in my fridge if I get a craving. The current bar has been in there a few months lol. I'm really not a sweets person. We try to keep fresh fruit on hand, but it really depends on what's on sale at the grocery store since I have to budget down to every penny. Currently we have a bag of grapefruit and a carton of strawberries, as they were both 2/$5, along with a bag of oranges that we finished.

I don't really get a sweet tooth craving. I love my salty foods though. I have cut back on sugary drinks. I use to drink 3-5 cans of dr. pepper a day and now I drink only one can a day and the rest of my day I drink water I flavored with apples and cinnamon to help with matabolism. I don't keep much fresh fruit on hand except apples for my water

I dont really have a sweet tooth. I dont crave sweets. However if its there in front of me i may eat some. I just like to eat...before having kids it wasnt a problem as i hardly ever gained any weight at all. Now i seem to gain just by looking at food

If I get a craving for sweets will make some cookies or something. That way I know what is in it and can make healthier swaps.
