Kaiser Half Marathon today! (Pic heavy)
I was able to do it! My sinuses weren't bad when I woke up today (woke up with a head cold yesterday, so I wasn't sure about today), so I went for it. I came in 4 minutes over my ambitious goal, which I'm proud of. I probably would've hit it if I wasn't sick, but I can live with that! 2:19!!
I took tons of pics, all moving (as I was trying to keep my time good), so excuse the poor quality:
Headed into SF
Me at the start, ready to go! Surprisingly not nervous. Quite relaxed!
Going across the start
A guy with nice calves in a banana costume (I finished just behind him)
Various shots going through Golden Gate National Park:
Conservatory of Flowers
Academy of Sciences/Natural History Museum
Buffalo (NOT native- part of the zoo)
First glimpse of the coast
Along the Great Highway (about half of the race was an out and back along the Great Highway)
Final mile! Excuse my fogged up lens!
Me with my finisher's medal
I'm SOOO glad I ran today! Definitely a PR- my last half road race was August 2011, and I ran a 2:52 (I was still over 200 lbs at the time). I needed this! I'm ready to go again!!
Also, this is my third finisher's medal- I have told myself since that first half that once I have 3 finisher's medals, I can get a rack for them! Woo hoo! Time to start shopping around! LOL
Many more medals to come!
