I'm confused by cardio vs. strength. Is it a one or the other? Both? Alternate days? Someone please help. Thank you!

I would focus on 4-5 days/week of cardio and 2-3 days/week of strength.

They are both equally important.

Cardio should incorporate 30-45 minutes of an elevated heart rate and should ideally be 3-4x per week.

Strength training builds muscle, which leads to more calories burned at rest. This should be done 2-3x per week.

IF you plan on doing both on the same day, it is best to do a 5 minute cardio warmup, pull weights/strength train for 30-60 minutes, then do cardio for 30-45 minutes. If you do cardio before strength you run the risk of having improper form and injuring yourself.
